Holding a special place in our series on the SanDisk USB Flash Drive is the Ultra.
Available in four models and building upon the Cruzer, they share the same attributes and then some. For instance, the Cruzer Titanium boasts a hard metal casing arming it for any clash while the Ultra Backup sports a simple and efficient button to work its miracle. The Ultra CZ45 however holds the designer trophy – without neglecting vital security features. But see for yourself!

SanDisk products are pretty solid from my own experience. They do run a bit warm though, odd enough. If you feel one of these on the slide-out button thing you can actually feel this thing working. Overall, its a great and highly recommend USB stick to own.

I purchase a usb memory stick from these guys recently and found them to be great. we had recently been using a number of products to enable us to make storage for all the the items needed and this one did the job perfectly.

I am very impressed by this. titanium seriously? And I was thinking this was gonna be pretty expensive..then I scroll down and woah! so affordable! I’m definitely getting my hands one of those babies!

No usb stick I’ve ever had had any password protection! At least, not that I know of. These look like they are well worth the money, and they should last a long time and be very durable since they’re made of titanium.

You’ve got some really goodlooking USB sticks there! My favorite has to be the USB Sticks looking like food
The ones looking like trees are also very nice, but will they be usable with my Laptop? I guess they need some space around themselves, but on a standard PC they would be a perfect gift! Love it!
February 20th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Trond, it all depends on how much stuff you have sticking out at your laptop.
Seriously, the Tree Flash Drives are small and elongated so they should pose no problem to other plugged in devices. The protruding twigs however could be an issue depending on the surroundings.

The Ultra Backup looks very interesting. Does anybody know how things such as the password manager work? Is it separate software which you then install on your PC, or is it an application which runs off of and saves to the USB stick? Thanks.
March 14th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
tgreen,
From what I understand the password manager is part of the U3 software so it should come pre-loaded but not pre-installed. Here are details from the official U3 page: Password Manager.

I would really love the ultra backup pen dive. I carry a lot of my official documents in my pen-drive and I would love it to be a secure one. With its encryption and backup capability I think it’s the best for official document transfer.

Great post, I loved the idea of a backup button, it seems like it would be really convenient and useful. Thanks for this.

I personally use a USB drive Ultra Cruzer Titanium 8Gb. This is a very good model.
July 7th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
there are no 16gb cruzer titaniums in the UK !!!!!
where can i get one from ??
anywhere in the world would do !!!!
thanks
July 8th, 2010 at 2:07 am
I personally refrain from cruzer because the ones you can buy at walmart seem cheap and flimsy, I’m always afraid they’re gonna fall apart but this one here seems like it might be worth it.
July 9th, 2010 at 1:43 am
Kelvin, if you follow the ebay link under the Cruzer Titanium you should get to a few listings from the US. Or try this one right here: 16GB SanDisk Titanium US. You’re right though, UK listings dont show anything right now except a couple of sellers that actually ship from Hong Kong. –> 16GB SanDisk Titanium UK
July 9th, 2010 at 1:59 am
Abo, the Titanium definitely isn’t fragile or flimsy. The casing really is sturdy metal.

The Cruzer titanium drive has now been discontinued by Sandisk which may be the reason that a couple of readers are struggling to find them on ebay. Sandisk have released some new higher speed drives more recently.

Randy,
you probably need to upgrade the firmware or download the newest driver. Try SanDisk’s support page: SanDisk Support

March 14th, 2011 at 11:58 am
I love my Sandisk USB Flash Drives (got 5 in total various sizes). Never had a problem with them. For a couple of extra bucks they are well worth it.
March 26th, 2011 at 9:26 pm
Sandisk are not manufacturing these old drives anymore. The latest drives are Cruzer Edge and Cruzer Blade.
Just to add the new cruzer drivers are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. Pretty cheep too!!
March 26th, 2011 at 10:30 pm
John,
they may not get manufactured anymore but they are still available from some sellers. As for the Cruzer Edge and Blade, I have a post about them too: Cruzin’ on the Edge.

They all pretty much do the same thing, but the way they design them makes some of them look like a fashion accessories.

The backup button is a brilliant idea. Every stick should have one. Scandisk products are superb. Will be picking up an ultra 32GB.

We have been big fans of the Cruzer Titanium drives with their sturdy case and reliability.
The latest Cruzer Blades are now being tested for carrying the latest Microsoft server 2011 operating system. So far with great results.

I have used one of your memory sticks on borrow from a friend who came in from the US and it was wonderful but unfortunately they are not sold here in Cameroon .
Really, it is a state of the a piece of equipment
Great
June 24th, 2013 at 5:16 pm
I must say ! I do find scandisk good value. It’s hard to think that you can get this much memory on such a small device.
